MBTI: Optimus Prime- ENFJ

prime

The speeches. The leadership. The unwavering ideals after countless battles in every environment imaginable. There’s only one thing for Optimus Prime and none of the haters want to say it.

Go ahead…say it- ENFJ.

Even when I really listen to what the meaning behind one of Prime’s speeches may be, cartoon or films, and they don’t necessarily make a lot of sense to me (namely the movies), they still sound so good. That’s because the ENFJ knows how to get you on their side.

There’s enough conviction in their voice along with ideas you’re already familiar with that when you hear them speak, you can’t help but agree with it. As mentioned in previous posts, the people thought to be ENFJ have all been leaders with tremendous speaking power. People initially against them may be swayed to the other side after understanding that the ENFJ doesn’t just want to sell you something as the ESTP would, but actually want the best for you.

"You need this!"

“You need this!”

An odd idea, but it’s just what many of us need to change the way we look at things.

“Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.”

“One shall stand, one shall fall.”

“You are going to face justice, and may it be kinder to you than it was to us. Autobots, transform and roll for home!”

Has there ever been such a quotable robot? Aside from C-3P0 of course. Prime leads with Extraverted Feeling first, in that his main objective is for not just his homeworld, but for the entire galaxy to live in peace. His goal isn’t for everyone to do what he says but to actually live harmoniously.

I’m not a fan of using that word but it’s fitting when speaking of ENFJs and Idealists in general. Fe adjusts it’s behavior to what those around them need or want so Fe-dominant users have occasionally come off as too passive, and going back and forth to please others- but that can also depend on the user’s second function.

And the spatiality of his blockitude.

…And the spatiality of his blockitude.

Prime’s auxiliary is Introverted Intuition which is what’s used to help idealize his goals and make him so sound convincing. That, and freedom really is the right of all sentient beings but you knew that. Ni is seeing the meaning behind symbols.

It’s understanding that even though Megatron says he “only” wants that planet or that the transformers could all rule solar system, he can see behind the lies know that Megatron would never stop until he’s taken over everything. ESFJ may be more inclined to believe him just so things wouldn’t get awkward. “Well, if you say so…”

"Bro, do you even lift over 25 tons?"

“Bro, do you even lift over 25 tons?”

The Transformers wiki describes him as this-

“Prime would sacrifice his life to protect his fellow Autobots or those under his care, and has on a few occasions. His compassion for other sentient beings is his only real weakness, and one the Decepticons have exploited time and time again… though ironically, it’s also the source of his strength.”

A major weakness of the ENFJ is stretching themselves too thin in places they may not even be wanted in the first place. After forcing themselves into an issue that has nothing to do with them, they become offended and annoying when proper gratitude isn’t show. A common “motto” of the ENFJ is “helping you become a better you.”

I can see Prime getting that way. “SAM, JUST LET ME HELP YOU. I CAN BEAT THIS LEVEL, I’VE PLAYED IT BEFORE.” But in Peter Cullen’s voice, you may be convinced to do things you never thought you would.

"My weakness? Some would say I'm TOO awesome."

“My weakness? Some would say I’m TOO awesome.”

Many leaders have no problem getting past the “sacrifice their soldier’s lives for the cause” but few would do it themselves. Prime’s characterization of selflessness, charisma and leadership are all the traits of the healthiest ENFJ.
