Warning! Spoilers Ahead!

A lot of viewers had problems with last week’s start-up episode. Complaints of the show trying to hard, being too slow, and not really having much build-up seemed to be the general consensus.

I don’t know if this episode is going to change their minds either, though there’s still some enjoyment to be had here if you’re already invested. Continue reading

MBTI: Adapt What is Useful

If you know me, you know I’m a fan of Bruce Lee. Most of you don’t know me so most of you don’t know that. Now you do.

We’ll get to that.

I was talking to a friend on MBTI who felt that they had it all figured out. I didn’t put “figured out” in quotations because he didn’t use those words but the attitude was there. He felt that MBTI could only provide a limited about of information in which to go by and that other personality indicators were broader, therefore better.because hey, only 16 personalities? That’s not enough to encompass the human race.

Yes it is. Continue reading

MBTI: JUGGERNAUT- ESTP

YOUR WEAPONS CANNOT HARM ME CHARLES, DON’T YOU KNOW WHO I AM?

Alright sorry, I felt the urge. While the X-Men movies may be fine with relegating this unstoppable X-Men foe to Vinnie Jones with a stone helmet on, the “real” JUGGERNAUT (Which is spelled wrong if it’s not in all caps) is one that makes everyone tremble when his name is mentioned.

And why wouldn’t you be freaked out? This guy’s body makes no sense. He doesn’t need air/food/water/rest and when he starts moving at all, he can’t be stopped. Cain Marko is one bad dude. Do I need to mention he’s not a mutant? Continue reading

Warning! Spoilers Ahead!

I’m not sure I’m going to be doing this for every episode but the debut of the gritty crime series feels monumental enough in its own right (at least with the people I know) to not only watch when its initially airs- something I never do- but to give some thoughts on what was done right and what was done…boringly.

“‘Boringly’?'”you ask? “It’s only the first episode!” Well allow me to answer your question with another questionWhere was Matthew MaConughey?!? Looks like I win. Continue reading

Movie Review: Dope

dope

Stars: Shameik Moore, Keirsey Clemons, Tony Revolori, Rakim Mayers, Bruce Beatty, Blake Anderson, De’Aundre Bonds, Julian Brand, Quincy Brown, Zoe Kravitz

Rated R for language, drug content, sexuality/nudity, and some violence-all involving teens, 103 minutes, Comedy/Drama

Compare to: Superbad (2007), Adventureland (2009)

I don’t really get excited when I read that the movie I’m going to watch is a “coming of age” comedy. It makes me think of films that pretend not to be exactly what they are and fail on either front as far as this reviewer is concerned.

But Dope isn’t those movies so I can’t throw it in there with all those other “Life is crazy when you’re growing up!” emotional manipulators. Continue reading

It’s always interesting, the idea that your lineage would have a symbol for them and you. What would yours be? Everybody would like to think it would be as awesome as a wolf or dragon but somebody’s got to end up with an open palm holding flower petals right?

Well this isn’t giving a sigil to types but typing the houses already in play in Game of Thrones. What are the proud Lannisters and the secluded and stubborn Greyjoys? See if you agree. Continue reading

Game of Thrones, Season 5 Review

Spoilers! You’ve been warned!

Holy crap what a season! It started off slow enough but it definitely picked up toward the end. Part of the reason for not doing reviews on previous seasons aside from the first one, and which I may have mentioned before, is that spoilers are so rampant on the internet for these sort of things I was sick of having season 5-level spoilers due to the books because I’m searching for a picture for a character of season 2.

Anyway, we’re all on the same page now, no pun intended. And my emotions are just….well, I’ll just sum it up with this picture and smash a bunch of keys repeatedly for the remainder of the article. Continue reading

You Need to Read Chrononauts

You’re familiar with writer Mark Millar’s work whether you know it or not. You might have read his comics- stints he’s had with Marvel (Civil War, Old Man Logan, The Ultimates) and DC (Superman: Red Son) or maybe stories with his own characters (Nemesis, Jupiter’s Legacy). Chances are, you’ve seen the Wanted, Kick-Ass, or Kingsman movies, all based on his comics.

But for all of his huge ideas, I haven’t really been a fan of Millar’s work…until now. Continue reading

Stars: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Irrfan Khan, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, BD Wong, Indominus Rex

Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of science-fiction violence and peril, 124 minutes, Sci-fi/Action/Adventure

Compare to: The Jurassic Park films (1993-2003), Deep Blue Sea (1999)

Duh-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh, danah nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh…Can you hear the theme when I spell it out like that? No?

This is kind of what I imagined the movie would be like. Spelling out the tune of a great piece of music but not actually understanding what makes it so great in the first place. Thankfully, Jurassic World isn’t as bad as that though it certainly isn’t the original. But hey, at least it’s not Jurassic Park III. Continue reading

MBTI: Margaery Tyrell- ENFJ

Spoilers! You’ve been warned!

We need more NF love on this site, don’t we? I mean, sure, every other site like this one is run by an NF woman that claims every other character as NF, but that doesn’t mean I should be so neglectful. Truth is, as you could probably tell, most of the stuff I watch is all about SP heroes taking down NT villains. And throw in some SJ authorities cleaning up the messes. Sorry SJs.

But sticking to the subject, the Tyrells are an interesting family to throw into the GoT world, even without Margaery; her brother, father, and grandmother all lend a certain lighthearted style to their scenes and the sigil of a rose definitely stands out from wolves, stags, lions and dragons.

But the most unique aspect with Margaery herself is that every time we think we’re going to see her go back on her word or do something as despicable as the majority of the other characters would do…she does the opposite. Continue reading
