Alien: The Horror of Creation

Those familiar with the Alien series know it’s far from perfect. Between shoddy sequels to the subpar Predator crossovers, there are certainly improvements to be made. Ironically, the antagonist of the original Alien (1979) is referred to as the “Perfect organism.” Yet in another ironic twist, and like an Average Joe giving forced birth to a Chestburster, every Alien installment does something to nullify the movie that came before it.

But despite the flaws, fan’s love of the series remains. And why? Possibly due to the concurrent theme that appears to run through virtually every film in the franchise; giving it a stable foundation on which to build any other details the filmmakers wish. If the story has no real message, the audience can tell without being able to put it into words. But the Alien series has a message. So what is it?

If you were to have an android, which personality, would you give it? An ISTJ? Sure, if you could be certain it wasn’t a terminator. An ENFJ? Ugh, no- you might accidentally fall in love with it and be branded robo-sexual. Maybe an ESFP if you plan on a malfunction .

Whatever you would choose, you can be certain that an INTP android would do everything in their power to understand their situation and environment. You would get the most advanced robot ever created…and you’d also get one with their own agenda. Continue reading

This Movie SUUUCKS: Alien Versus Predator: Requiem

I’ve been pretty sure that anybody who’s seen this movie hated it. If you didn’t, you should have. I myself, watched it in theaters with a friend pretty soon after it came out and laughed at it’s cheesy lines, terrible script, and overall lack of actual aliens versus predators. But it recently sprang to mind and seeing as how I’m not the same man I was some four years ago, I thought, “What the heck? It might be good for the action.”

In retrospect, I’m an idiot. This movie is even worse than I remember. Nonetheless, it made nearly 160 million dollars and some reviews actually pegged it as a “slam, bang action-thriller!” I have yet to meet anyone who really talks like that and I’m pretty sure the person who wrote it was either paid or threatened to say it.
