MBTI: Hero Typing Tropes

I had to word the title carefully so as not to make it sound like I was typing “Heroes,” the show and so it wouldn’t so like the other post, MBTI: The Types (of Types) of Heroes. Though I guess any writer who knows how to bring in the readers would have made it sound like both of those posts just to get everybody. But that ain’t me.

If you’ve come here enough, you’ve seen links to what has to be one of the greatest sites on the internet, TV Tropes. Yes, even better than BubbaliciousBlackBubbleButts.com. If that’s a real site, I had no idea. And from TV Tropes and Typing, can come the realization that every type fits well within the confines of some of the many sorts of heroes fiction can bring us. So while we’ve described how each type is represented in the Hero mold, let’s reverse this to see how the Hero mold can fit certain types.

You think you know Liquid? You don’t know SNAKE!

Considering he’s only been in one game so far (His body anyway, up until Phantom Pain), Liquid, whose real name remains unknown, has left an impression. A renegade clone of the greatest soldier to ever live, Liquid was determined to get the remains of his “father” back…or blow everyone up using the world’s more ridiculous and potent weapon.

That’s not much of a plan but it still demands to be recognized and taken seriously. Yeah, this sounds like ESTP. Continue reading →

MBTI: Tropic Thunder

One of the most quotable movies pretty much ever, Tropic Thunder is a comedy I always think I’m sick of until I watch it again. Then the madness starts and I have to go through the whole thing. It’s not even a choice.

I remember people standing outside of the theater telling us not to watch the movie because it was promoting hatred. Then we were all thinking “Well, we’ve GOT to see it now.” The moral of these last two sentences is that trying to ruin something won’t work if you make it appear edgy and offensive. MBTI: The ESTP and ISTJ Team-Up

There are certain types that always seem to be thrown together. You’ve got your mismatched and ready-to-murder each other INTJ and ESFP, the opposite but similar ISTP and ENTP, and now we’ve got ISTJ and ESTP.

But unlike ISTP and ENTP, who will usually get along and the INTJ/ESFP pairing where the two can’t stand each other, the ISTJ and ESTP team up will be a combination of the two- Disgust at first, with eventual understanding of the others’ strengths and weaknesses. Continue reading →

Alright sorry, I felt the urge. While the X-Men movies may be fine with relegating this unstoppable X-Men foe to Vinnie Jones with a stone helmet on, the “real” JUGGERNAUT (Which is spelled wrong if it’s not in all caps) is one that makes everyone tremble when his name is mentioned.

And why wouldn’t you be freaked out? This guy’s body makes no sense. He doesn’t need air/food/water/rest and when he starts moving at all, he can’t be stopped. Cain Marko is one bad dude. Do I need to mention he’s not a mutant? Continue reading →

It’s always interesting, the idea that your lineage would have a symbol for them and you. What would yours be? Everybody would like to think it would be as awesome as a wolf or dragon but somebody’s got to end up with an open palm holding flower petals right?

MBTI: Petra Dobrev- ESTP

Let me help you get to know m’lady Petra. I’ve given you something of an introduction into the world she lives in with my Luther Strode post, but I didn’t get much of a chance to talk about Luther’s motormouth girlfriend.

Though Luther keeps quiet through the majority of his own story, Petra has no problem letting people know what she’s thinking as it’s happening. And not in a panicked and flustered way, but with sharply biting commentary. You can tell the difference with Luther when he’s just not going to speak and when Petra has shut him up. MBTI: Neon Genesis Evangelion’s EVAs

Spoilers ahead!

OMG WTF is this guy doing typing cartoon robots amirite? Normally I would have given up on anybody who relegated MBTI from helpful/fun tool to “Let’s type a washing machine! ESFJ!” But this is different, I swear.

Since I was on the subject of Ex Machina and borots (Robots for the layman), I figured I’d go ahead with the idea of typing some of the most insanely awesome inventions in all of fiction- the EVAs. And while I pondered whether or not you can type a fictional robot with Ultron as the main subject, fiction does have a tendency to blur humanity and the…in…humane? If Ultron can mimic a personality to resemble an ENTJ, the EVAs and their apparent “emotions” can appear similarly to real personalities as well. Not to mention, the EVAs have certain traits other fictional robots can’t really boast.

Let’s do this.

MBTI: MCU ENTJ Nick Fury Versus the Comics’ ESTP

…Or as I like to call them “night and day” and that’s because I’m so funny hahahahaha.

The Avengers films have really taken off and though they could have gotten one of many well known actors to take the role on (Hasselhoff notwithstanding), why not cast the guy his Ultimate counterpart was not only based on, but outright says a movie version of him should be played by Samuel L. Jackson?

And as great a reimagining as he is, we can’t leave original Nick Fury out either, can we? He’s got a great look, a lot of history and don’t take no guff. So what are the differences between the original Nick Fury and the one the world at large has grown accustomed to? They share a lot of similarities but the differences are vast. Continue reading →
