MBTI: Solidus Snake- ENTJ

Posted in MBTI Rationals, MBTI Stuff with tags , , , , on 03/16/2015 by Taylor Holt

Never one to be unprepared, Solidus Snake is the only Rational family member of the Snake clan. Cloned from Big Boss himself, he fits right in with them and sticks out in just as many ways. Solidus’ mark on the franchise can seem small compared to that of Big Boss and Solid Snake but he and his plan still left an impression on players everywhere.

And what’s an ENTJ need besides a plan? Cronies, of course! And Solidus has got plenty of them. From his Dead Cell and Raiden to the people of the free world, Solidus wasn’t a dog to get kicked and run off with his tail between his legs and neither is the ENTJ, as they don’t mind telling you. MBTI: Fortune- INFJ

Posted in MBTI Idealists, MBTI Stuff with tags , , , , on 03/16/2015 by Taylor Holt

Helena “Fortune” Jackson is bad luck personified. When everyone around her began to die and she seemed to be able to avoid death  not matter what she did, she gained the name “Lady Luck” as well and developed a nihilistic viewpoint.

While INFJs are normally thought of as quiet, people-loving, and introspective, there are the ones stuck in a rut that can’t get out of the mindset that people are terrible and humanity itself just isn’t worth it! *Pulls out hair*.

And since this is the Metal Gear universe, the grudge-holding INFJ can’t be hit by bullets and goes around killing people with a portable rail gun with her vampire buddy. Continue reading

MBTI: Otacon and Fatman- INTP

While my post on The Three Types of ISTP- Arya, Bronn, and The Hound (Game of Thrones) received some positive feedback, the unfortunate thing is that there are only so many works of fiction with the varying degrees of the same type. So there’s only many posts like that to be made.

But thanks to Metal Gear Solid, we’ve at least two solid examples of an INTP that will allow me to write a full article. Weeee- Continue reading

The Art of Yoji Shinkawa

If there’s one thing I love, it’s barbeque. If there’s another thing I love, it’s the smell of gasoline (The forbidden fruit). But if there’s only one more thing I can say that I love, I guess I’ll say that I love good art.

I don’t necessarily mean weirdo art house art where you’re meant to analyze and interpret what you think the artist was trying to convey by crapping on a mattress. I really just mean art. Like a guy took a pencil, a brush, or whatever; put it to a sheet of paper and created something really cool. That’s what Yoji Shinkawa does and if you don’t know him, you should get to know him. The Snake-Captain Connection: Profound Similarities Between Metal Gear and The Winter Soldier

Posted in Whatever with tags , , , , , , on 04/08/2014 by Taylor Holt

Spoilers to both The Metal Gear Series and The Winter Soldier Movie.

This should probably be my last Winter Soldier-related article but what can I say? When a movie is good, it’s going to stick with you.

But while watching the film, it could be helped to notice several things sticking out as…familiar.

What do you mean Taylor? This story was completely original! You can LEAVE AMERICA if you don’t like it!

No, no…it’s not that I didn’t like it, this latest Marvel movie is the best in the series by far. But I have suspicions that another super soldier has already been through a similar predicament. Continue reading

MBTI: Raiden- ISFP

Posted in MBTI Artisans, MBTI Stuff with tags , , , , on 07/19/2013 by Taylor Holt

Of all the characters of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, no opinion is as polarized toward a character than the surprise protagonist of Metal Gear Solid 2 himself, Raiden. Aka “White Devil,” aka “Jack the Ripper” aka “Why-the-hell-am-I-playing-as-this-guy?”

Normally, a character with so much controversy surrounding them tends to be a type more willing to go to extremes. But Raiden’s faults and problems lie mostly in the fact that players were thought to be playing as the normal hero of the game, Solid Snake.

But after about a third of the game was completed (if that), you switch over to a guy that in many ways, seems the opposite of Snake. He’s not gruff. He’s not world weary. And he looks like a woman. A very. pretty. woman. Do these things alone type Raiden? Nah, they don’t hardly factor in. Here’s what does… Continue reading
