TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES

Some Spoilers Ahead!

Man, the wait is over. The movie finally came out and we’re able to see for ourselves if it’s worth it or not. Many will tell you it’s not, and I’m sure many will tell you it is. Who can you trust? Me, you idiot! The answer is always me.

In all seriousness though, this is a movie that is what you want it to be. You wanna laugh, you can. You want to hate it, you will. Here are a few words to help you get into the mindset. Continue reading

Stars: Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher, Alan Ritchson, Danny Woodburn, Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William FIchtner, Tohoru Mosamune, and voices by Johnny Knoxville, Tony Shaloub

Rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence , Running time 101 minutes, Action/Sci-fi/Comedy

Compare to: Hellboy (2004) The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

For a movie that’s garnering as much hype (and hate) as this new Ninja Turtles movie is, expectations were still right there in the middle for me. Could be good, could be a waste of time.

And for all the backlash its received  by way of critics, I’m having a hard time understanding it. Has the story been done before? Sure. But is it enjoyable to see the turtles flipping around with martial arts that rubber suits previously prevented? Definitely. Continue reading

MBTI: Casey Jones- ESTP

We all know the ESTP and it’s safe to say they’re most competitive type overall. It’s also safe to say that since they’re dominant Se users, the future takes a backseat to whatever feels the most interesting at the moment.

But that’s not all their is to this type, is it? Sports n’ stuff? Well, that’s not all, no, but the approach the ESTP takes to competition of any realm is an especially notable in how serious they take it. One could even say that they make jockery an art. Casey Jones is the perfect example to use for this, not only because he’s a TMNT character, but look at him. He’s covered in sports. Continue reading

“It’s only the F and the T that change, right? So these types are really a lot alike!”

…Only they’re not. For only “one letter” changing, the differences between the two make them appear hardly relatable at all, similar to the leader of the Foot Clan and the leader of the turtles. While both think in big picture planning, not much else is similar. Continue reading

MBTI: TMNT Week

tmAs a childhood favorite, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have always been there for me. Not through break-ups or heartache, trials and tribulations or anything like that but like, y’know…uh…when I would remember how much I loved them when I was a kid then I would, um…

Okay, so I don’t understand that phrasing of “always been there for me” when it comes to a thirty year-old franchise that had my parents spending God knows how much on come every birthday and Christmas. I never got the turtle van though. I guess you could say I had a rough childhood.

Anyway, since the Teenage Mutant Ninja Bay Turtles comes out Friday and I have yet to type all of the core characters past the turtles, might as well do so now before everybody watches the movie and decides to hate it all.

Leonardo- ENFJ

Donatello- INTP

Raphael- ISTP

Michelangelo- ESFP

Casey Jones- ESTP

Shredder and Splinter- INTJ and INFJ Comparison

I Just Realized April O’Neil is Disgusting

Just kidding, you’re not going to hate it. And if you are, just take Megan Fox’s advice! Gold!

And we hate what BAY is doing to the Ninja Turtles? C'mon.

He’s cool but rude, Raphael plays the part to the Ninja Turtles like Wolverine plays to the X-Men: Action and one liners are his main responsibilities and writing his character is pretty much the writer’s way of saying “Somebody needs to get punched in this scene.”

ESTP is often the type associated with never holding back but ISTP is what you want if subtlety is to be thrown in there. And while being subtle doesn’t usually go hand-in-hand with being a giant mutant turtle, Raphael does what he can. Continue reading

Seriously! 26 years and I’m just now catching up to this fact that should have been unavoidable. Ninja Turtles have long been a source of nostalgia for me and not much more.

When I see art online for it, I might even save it (Dave Rapoza anyone?), but past being stereotypes of different personalities, there’s usually not much more to get out of it than what the title implies- the turtles are mutants, they’re ninjas, and they’re forever kids.

But the turtles themselves are not the problem. They are who they are and for some reason, they’ve decided to listen to Splinter and save humanity as many times as necessary even though their lives will go no where else. No, my problem is not these unsung reptile heroes, it’s their human friend, April the freak. Continue reading

MBTI: Donatello- INTP

Donatello does machines- as you know. While all the turtles are pretty easy to choose from in their strengths, Donatello’s strengths are also his weaknesses, much like the real life INTP. Brilliant though he may be- he’s such a nerd, GAW.

Okay so not necessarily a weakness but it could be a weakness. Throughout the franchise, Donatello remains the same as he ever had, save for their original violent beginning where everything is black and white and the blood flowed like the rivers of ancient Babylon. Continue reading

MBTI: Leonardo- ENFJ

048

ENTJs are similar to their introverted cousin, the INTJ, in their desire for some form of power and control. But unlike the INTJ, the ENTJ prefers to work with his employees as he also gives the orders.

It’s a similar deal with their feeling cousin, the ENFJ, though their orders are more suggestions and their goals aren’t usually as business minded. So while Leonardo may be running the toughest group of turtle mutants in New York, his personality explains a lot as to why he doesn’t run it with an iron fist, but a convincing word. Continue reading

MBTI: Michelangelo- ESFP

Everybody’s favorite turtle has, not surprisingly, the same personality type as everybody’s favorite party person? You don’t a “party person?” Yes you do. It’s the ESFP!

And Mikey’s life is perfectly suited for one too. He’s always got somebody to hang out with, he has no responsibilities aside from the freelance job of fighting ninjas, and from that, they somehow make enough to eat all the pizza they want!

Friends, fighting, and food. Sounds about right. Continue reading
